The Chair, after Dali

Description

Second assignment for my Digital Art class. We each chose an existing work of art and wrote a detailed description of it, then traded. We had to try to recreate the original artwork with only the description to go by (without knowing the original artwork). Turns out the piece I got was Salvador Dali's "The Chair", and my version is pretty close to the original in composition, which is partly due to the quality of the description, and partly due to the fact that I am extremely anal about composition to begin with and spent a huge amount of time just trying to balance it. There are a couple of points where I deviated intentionally from the description because I felt I couldn't make it work as described (there's supposed to be a man's arm with a paintbrush and a lacy cuff in the foreground) or because I thought it would make a better picture (the girl's sailor bib is supposed to be black, but I wanted to echo the dark blues in the sky and water, and there's a couple other tweakings of the color). But hey, my first entirely digital painting, and I'm quite proud of it!

Nice.

Capturing the materials with minimal detail is briliant.
I whis I cloud do that.

Which is why the bottle is off - too smooth for such a textured pic.

Otherwhise its realy good.
